Ah. network-manager doesnt allow you to configure static addresses. That's a 
missing feature. (In lenny for sure, maybe its fixed in newer versions.)

I dont understand what you mean with that.

Your /etc/network/interfaces looks good. What does /sbin/ifconfig 
and /sbin/route say?

Does running "ifdown eth0 ; ifup eth0" (as root) fix the network?
