-- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=ru_RU.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=ru_RU.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Problem: 1u server IBM x330 series (2x1.4G p!!! Cpu, 2G Ram, 2 SCSI 36G HDD on aic 7892 Ultra 160 SCSI adapter) work fine under Debian Etch (kernel 2.6.18). Root file system was placed on software mirror, created by mdadm (md0). After upgrade to Lenny or clean install from Lenny testing CD (weekly build), system not start after first reboot in new 2.6.26 kernel. Diagnostic message say: "ALERT: /dev/md0 not exist. Dropping to shell". To solve this problem i add delay into mdadm script in /scripts/local-top in initrd.img-2.6.26-1-686 patch is: ---------------- 16a17,18 > /bin/sleep 5.0 > ---------------- I think scsi driver in 2.6.26 start very slow and mdadm can't init md0 properly. When i reduse delay to 3.0 sec only one partition (/dev/sda1) was been binded sucsessfuly I can send dmesg output from failed system, succsessfuly boot system, and system boot wtihs only one of two partition if needs.
