It would be nice to have the antlr.py module in a separate package (i.e. python-antlr). Its code has no relations to the Java antlr code and is useful for other Python code. At the moment adding antlr as dependency for a Python package (i.e. xlwt) pulls in lots of Java dependencies that are not necessary for the Python code. I'll try to prepare a patch against antlr's SVN.
