Thanks for maintaining audacity.
It's useful.
I happened to notice that after upgrading from
version 1.3.5-2 to 1.3.6-2, it stopped displaying
its usual graphical user interface (GUI).
The problem persisted after
$ rm -r .audacity*
The only clues I can offer are
1.) I recently tested pulseaudio,( but my
assumption is that it's not causing this bug
because I
a.) killed pulseadio's process and
b.) removed the call to it in
/etc/asound.conf), and
2.) audacity does successfully pop up its
"getting started" window.
