I installed this package but did not have pidgin installed. Hence,
I could not use the package until I installed pidgin. This should
have been taken care of in the dependencies.
This plugin is for both Pidgin and libpurple messengers (such as
finch, adium, etc).
Ah -- I was not aware of that. Now I understand the lack of
dependencies.

It does depend on libpurple, so something does get pulled in.

Would it make any sense to have a pidgin-facebookchat package
that depends on pidgin, a finch-facebookchat package that depends
on finch, and so on? Or would that just add mindless clutter?

For a simple .so file, I think that that would would add the later.
But for the next upload I'll add finch and pidgin to suggests so the
user knows what to pull in as well.

That works for me. Thanks for the quick response.
