Yes, I was able to resolve the conflict by hand. In the logfile I sent I did
 cat kpartx/kpartx.c.rej
so you could see the hunk that did not apply, and
 diff -u kpartx/kpartx.c.orig kpartx/kpartx.c
at the point where I had hand-fixed the code so you could see
the complete diff.
