If you know this for sure, feel free to close this bug and sorry for the
noise. I was mostly alarmed (*) by Herberts words, that we (Debian) might
ship a broken and obsoleted tool.
(*) but havent tested myself. I tend to trust upstream (and the Debian
maintainers :) It's just very easy to open a bug to track things which else
might get forgotten and this seemed worthwhile to track.
