Interesting. Yesterday powermgmt-base with support for /sys/class/power_supply/$something has migrated to lenny. Hah. That might indeed be the cause for your problem. Did you build a minimal initramfs or didnt you change anything in that regard? And, can you please upgrade your powermgmt-base package (to the new version in lenny) and reboot and see, if that fixes the problem?
