Package: libmilter1.0.1 Version: 8.14.3-5 Severity: minor
Since upgrading to Lenny today, I've been inundated with logfile messages of this variety: Feb 16 23:30:41 adam sendmail[25756]: NOQUEUE: Milter (dkim): to error state Feb 16 23:30:41 adam sendmail[25756]: NOQUEUE: Milter (dk): to error state Feb 16 23:30:41 adam sendmail[25756]: NOQUEUE: Milter (spamassassin): to error state Feb 16 23:30:41 adam sendmail[25756]: NOQUEUE: Milter (clamav): to error state which appear to be triggered on all inbound messages. Kicking confMILTER_LOG_LEVEL up to 21 shows the errors as occurring immediately after Milter: rcpts: Feb 16 23:30:41 adam sm-mta[25754]: n1H4Ud1D025754: milter=spamassassin, action=mail, continue Feb 16 23:30:41 adam sm-mta[25754]: n1H4Ud1D025754: milter=clamav, action=mail, continue Feb 16 23:30:41 adam sm-mta[25754]: n1H4Ud1D025754: Milter: rcpts: <[email protected]> Feb 16 23:30:41 adam sendmail[25756]: NOQUEUE: Milter (dkim): to error state Feb 16 23:30:41 adam sendmail[25756]: NOQUEUE: Milter (dk): to error state Feb 16 23:30:41 adam sendmail[25756]: NOQUEUE: Milter (spamassassin): to error state Feb 16 23:30:41 adam sendmail[25756]: NOQUEUE: Milter (clamav): to error state Feb 16 23:30:41 adam sm-mta[25754]: n1H4Ud1D025754: milter=spamassassin, action=rcpt, continue Feb 16 23:30:41 adam sm-mta[25754]: n1H4Ud1D025754: milter=clamav, action=rcpt, continue The above pattern is consistent; all four milters (they are the only four running on my system) are listed as "to error state," and always immediately after Milter: rcpts:. But the heck of it is that--as far as I can tell--all four milters are working fine. I get spam scores and headers added to the messages as I expect, and viruses are correctly identified (the other two only actually function on outbound messages, anyway). So, I don't know if these messages are anything to be concerned about or not (and if so, I'd appreciate anyone chiming in with advice).
