I think that using either /srv or /home makes it a policy violation: 1) As for /srv: Quoting http://www.debian.org/doc/packaging-manuals/fhs/fhs-2.3.html#SRVDATAFORSERVICESPROVIDEDBYSYSTEM : no program should rely on a specific subdirectory structure of /srv existing or data necessarily being stored in /srv 2) For /home: Quoting http://www.debian.org/doc/packaging-manuals/fhs/fhs-2.3.html#HOMEUSERHOMEDIRECTORIES : no program should rely on this location.
