The hang was actually due to the Avahi code in the net backend, which was my #1 suspect. Two things happened: - 1.0.19-24 was misbuilt without Avahi support - it looks like a fix/change was made in Avahi triggering this deadlock. Whereas it was necessary on SMP to lock the Avahi thread before stopping it, it looks like it's not necessary anymore. That would actually bring the behaviour back in line with the Avahi sample code. I'll have to check whether Lenny is affected, because that new behaviour is news to me.
