Yeah, I didn't notice that change until later.  I agree that upstream
should have better documented it.

I've forwarded your suggestion to upstream (it seems like a good idea to
me), but I still haven't heard back from him...  I'll probably just go
ahead and apply it if I don't hear anything in a couple more days.
