with Debian mysql-server-4.0, mysql-server-4.1, and mysql-server-5.0, error logging was going to syslog, as said in my.cnf it's a "Debian improvement" ; and I love it. It's really usefull, combined with logcheck for example. But it's no more the case with current version of mysql-server-5.1. Or maybe something is wrong with my recompiled package (I add the percona patch microslow and userstats) ?
