Package: crm114
Version: 20080330-2
Severity: important

Since upgrading from etch to lenny, crm114 has failed to categorize e-mail
at all. It always returns a spam probability score of 0.0 and a status
of UNSURE. This result is the same no matter what training I engage in.
It even reports 0.0 UNSURE for messages that were used to train it.

There are no error messages (I cleared those up by updating my configuration
file, etc. after the upgrade from etch) or permissions errors. The crm
process has read access to the configuration file and read-write access to
the *.css files. It has no trouble with the chdir.

I run mailreaver with the following command line, and it is passed the
incoming message on its stdin with its stdout being stored into a mailbox
by another script based on the spam status reported by crm114. The setup
I used worked perfectly until I upgraded to lenny.

Command line:
  crm -u /var/mail/crm/ mailreaver.crm

This is run by a user based on the domain of the recipient and 'id' will
report that the script that calls crm has privileges to the 'mail' group.

# ls -l /var/mail/crm
total 98460
-rw-r----- 1 root mail 18207 2009-02-19 18:22 mailfilter.cf
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root       32 2007-02-14 13:08 mailreaver.crm ->
/usr/share/crm114/mailreaver.crm*
-rw-rw---- 1 root mail 25165848 2009-02-25 18:56 nonspam.css
-rw-r----- 1 root mail 0 2006-06-02 11:33 priolist.mfp
drwxrwx--- 8 root mail 224 2007-02-14 13:10 reaver_cache/
-rw-r----- 1 root mail 214 2006-12-06 20:25 rewrites.mfp
-rw-rw---- 1 root mail 25165848 2009-02-25 18:56 spam.css

The training setup I use still works fine and populates reaver_cache without
difficulty. Spam.css and nonspam.css are modified when I train on a message.

I marked this bug 'important' because crm114 is useless for anyone who is
affected by it. I do not know if anyone else is affected by this behavior
but I have done all the research I can and am unable to find a likely
cause of the problem.
