The upstream author has clarified that. Yes, this is a known issue. The problem is not the x11apha driver. In fact it's quite simple to rotate the display correctly just as gv or ghostview do. The problem is to place the annotations correctly so that they end up at the right position and with correct orientation in the document. Regards, Kapil. --
