The entertaining flip-side to this bug is that receipt of my own bug report mail was delayed for 5 hours, because after upgrading glibc, postfix smtpd started segfaulting. Mar 2 00:05:00 minbar kernel: [31907.000813] smtpd[22263]: segfault at d89c0 ip 000d89c0 sp bfa26100 error 4 in libcrypt-2.9.so[b7801000+9000] Restarting postfix with the init script was enough to resolve this.
