It is still serving music. The SoundBridge will indeed close the connection if the server is no longer announced on the network. Are you restarting the Avahi daemon or the DBus daemon on your server? The version of mt-daapd in Lenny doesn't handle Avahi daemon restarts; the version in unstable does.
