Pietro,

Nice work. I now drop a slightly modified file r-cran-rcmdr.desktop into
/usr/share/applications and it gets picked up automatically on Ubuntu 8.10
with KDE 4.1 and Debian testing with KDE 3.5. The new menu entry appears in
both Education->Mathematics and Education->Science with KDE 4.1, and under
Edutainment->Mathematics and Edutainment->Science with KDE 3.5.

For John, I have attached a tarball with these files:

e...@ron:~/src/debian/CRAN/Rcmdr-1.4-8> tar cvzf Rcmdr-addons.tar.gz
inst/etc/linux/
inst/etc/linux/
inst/etc/linux/Rcmdr.desktop
inst/etc/linux/Rcmdr.sh
inst/etc/linux/Rcmdr.png
e...@ron:~/src/debian/CRAN/Rcmdr-1.4-8>

The desktop file there uses 'our' (ie Debian/Ubuntu) package path; other may
need to adjust it. The png and sh are as emailed earlier.

I had some difficulties with the build process as the diff utility did not
like the new binary .png file. I may just pretend that this is a new version
1.4-7.1; so far I just called it 1.4-8 which is a bad idea as I should stay
'off' a number John will most likely use next.

Dirk
