/var/cache/apt/archives/liferea_1.5.14-1_amd64.deb | fgrep doc

Now that gets interesting. :-)

And I think, I know what's the problem:

42/0/0 r...@kiva6:pts/ttyp4 [~] # dpkg --contents
/var/cache/apt/archives/liferea_1.4.18-1.1_amd64.deb | fgrep doc | wc -l
dpkg-deb: --contents /var/cache/apt/archives/liferea_1.4.18-1.1_amd64.deb
63
43/0/0 r...@kiva6:pts/ttyp4 [~] #

Older liferea packages didn't have that symlink. (Seems to be
introduced together with liferea-data in 1.4.26-2.)

http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-maintainerscripts.html#s-unpackphase
states under point 4:

"A directory will never be replaced by a symbolic link to a directory
or vice versa; instead, the existing state (symlink or not) will be
left alone and dpkg will follow the symlink if there is one."

So that's what probably happens if you didn't install liferea newly
but upgraded from a liferea version before 1.4.26-2 (I guess).

Which means that this problem also exists in unstable. Just verified
on a machine which I dist-upgraded from Lenny to Sid after Lenny's
release:

4/0/0 r...@nemo:pts/0 17:31:26 [~] # dpkg -l liferea | fgrep liferea
ii liferea 1.4.26-4
feed aggregator for GNOME
5/0/0 r...@nemo:pts/0 17:31:33 [~] # ls -alF /usr/share/doc/liferea
total 76
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Mar 13 20:19 ./
drwxr-xr-x 1821 root root 69632 Mar 23 00:15 ../
6/0/0 r...@nemo:pts/0 17:31:36 [~] #

                Regards, Axel
