Package: update-manager Version: 0.68.debian-7 Severity: normal The update manager could not load the files from the sources.list when I have the system-proxy set. If the systemwide proxy is set to direct internet access then update-manager will load the files. Setting the "Ignore-host" list for the proxy access will not help. In synaptic I set direct internet access. Apt-get update will also work. I never had a problem in debian etch with update-manager using apt-cacher.
