Package: noip2
Version: 2.1.7-11
Severity: important

noip2 requires write-access to the configuration file for standard
operation. This is a bit daft:

wall:/home/madduck# ls -l /var/lib/noip2/noip2.conf
-rw------- 1 root root 144 2009-04-14 09:38 /var/lib/noip2/noip2.conf
wall:/home/madduck# noip2
Can't locate configuration file /var/lib/noip2/noip2.conf. (Try -c). Ending!

wall:/# ls -l /var/lib/noip2/noip2.conf
-rw------- 1 root root 144 2009-04-14 09:38 /var/lib/noip2/noip2.conf
wall:/# noip2
Can't locate configuration file /var/lib/noip2/noip2.conf. (Try -c). Ending!

wall:/# cp /var/lib/noip2/noip2.conf /tmp
wall:/# mount -t tmpfs noip-tmp /var/lib/noip2
wall:/# mv /tmp/noip2.conf !$
mv /tmp/noip2.conf /var/lib/noip2
wall:/# noip2

If this is software madness, then maybe the init.d script could make
a copy of the file to /dev/shm and use that, if
/var/lib/noip2/noip2.conf is not writeable?
