I'm not sure the content of my mail reached the maintainer (it wasnt
shown on the BTS), so I'm resending it just to be sure:

It seems that the support was never there. I don't really know about
2.6.24 kernels, but definitely it's not working with 2.6.29. Debian
kernel had reactivated the option needed for the /proc/acpi/battery
stuff to work, and this was choosen preferably by acpitool, so nobody
noticed that before now, that the option was again disabled.

Looking at the source code, it seems that, first, it tries to skip to
many lines (5) from the /sys/class/power_supply/*/uevent and so think
the battery is not present.
But even correcting that, other fields are not correctly parsed anyway.
