I'm not aware of any extension which needs jabber1 (neither jabberd2). jabber-
muc can run standalone (you need to launch it) or if jabberd2 is installed, 
jabberd2 runs muc as an aditional service.

jabber-jud, jabber-msn and jabber-aim have been removed from debian because 
they were upstream death and the way to go now is using python extensions 
which can run standalone but they don't have any jabberd2 integration yet.
