Package: krb5-user Version: 1.6.dfsg.4~beta1-5lenny1 Severity: important File: /usr/bin/kpasswd
*** Please type your report below this line *** The kpasswd utility does not decode error returns from the library. This results in user-incomprehensible numeric error messages. For example: gaw-t...@scooby-doo:~$ kpasswd Password for [email protected]: Enter new password: [I type a password that is too short] Enter it again: Password change rejected: Unknown error -1492553974 The same bug appears in etch with identical symptoms. It appears that the initialize_ovku_error_table() function is not being called when kpasswd starts up. The same bug also appears in upstream krb5 1.6.3 on my FreeBSD systems; I haven't tested 1.6.4 beta. ldd (on the lenny system) reports: libkrb5.so.3 => /usr/lib/libkrb5.so.3 (0x00002acecfb32000) libk5crypto.so.3 => /usr/lib/libk5crypto.so.3 (0x00002acecfdd3000) libcom_err.so.2 => /lib/libcom_err.so.2 (0x00002acecfff9000) libkrb5support.so.0 => /usr/lib/libkrb5support.so.0 (0x00002aced01fc000) libkeyutils.so.1 => /lib/libkeyutils.so.1 (0x00002aced0405000) libresolv.so.2 => /lib/libresolv.so.2 (0x00002aced0607000) libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0x00002aced081b000) libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0x00002aced0a20000) libpthread.so.0 => /lib/libpthread.so.0 (0x00002aced0d73000) /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 (0x00002acecf915000) -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0.1 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-6-xen-amd64 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages krb5-user depends on: ii krb5-config 1.22 Configuration files for Kerberos V ii libc6 2.7-18 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libcomerr2 1.41.3-1 common error description library ii libkadm55 1.6.dfsg.4~beta1-5lenny1 MIT Kerberos administration runtim ii libkeyutils1 1.2-9 Linux Key Management Utilities (li ii libkrb53 1.6.dfsg.4~beta1-5lenny1 MIT Kerberos runtime libraries ii libss2 1.41.3-1 command-line interface parsing lib krb5-user recommends no packages. krb5-user suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
