Package: util-linux Version: 2.13.1.1-1 Severity: normal Hi LaMont,
I'm currently looking into packaging the new hal 0.5.12 release. One of it's new build dependencies is libblkid >= 1.43, which apparently is now provided by util-linux-ng 2.15, which as far as I read, will replace libblkid from e2fsprogs (I CCed Ted for that matter). hal 0.5.12 will no longer build depend on libvolume-id. Newer versions of udev (>= 142) will drop its internal libvolume-id lib and also use libblkid from util-linux. I don't know, what Marco's plans are wrt the new udev release, so I CCed him too (especially as there is a remaining rdep of libvolume-id left, namely gfs(2)-tools). So, this bug is not only about getting util-linux 2.15 and its libblkid packaged but also to coordinate this with e2fsprogs, udev (and rdeps) and hal. I'm especially interested if Ted plans to drop libblkid from e2fsprogs as soon as util-linux ships this package.
