I read over the previous bugs and the upstream bug report.  I agree with some 
of the comments on the upstream bug report that this is actually a very 
desirable feature.  If people want to save the document again, there should be 
some way for them to do this.  For example, Ctrl-S or manually going to File, 
Save.  But the visual feedback of being able to see that the document has 
already been saved is wonderful and shouldn't be lost.  They could even make 
it so that the icon is ghosted but if someone clicks on it it saves anyway.

That's just my two cents.
