Do you automatically save your session? If so, you need to upgrade gnome-power-manager to the latest version and try it again. Otherwise, how are you logging in? Is it gdm? If so, have you restarted gdm since the installation of consolekit? If it is with startx, this is somehow expected. -- .''`.
