Package: tightvnc-java Version: 1.2.7-6 Severity: normal
The tightvnc-java package in debian, like the vnc-java package (see bug #445338) doesn't support the ZRLE encoding scheme which is now the default with current VNC implementations. There is a newer upstream package that fixes this (TightVNC Java Viewer 1.3.10), implementing ZRLE as well as a number of other enhancements and fixes. Lack of ZRLE encoding can degrade the performance over WAN connections, and so should not be considered simply a wishlist item. This package really needs to be updated in order to fully-support current VNC implementations. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (700, 'unstable'), (600, 'stable'), (550, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-2-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
