Package: tightvnc-java
Version: 1.2.7-6
Severity: normal

The tightvnc-java package in debian, like the vnc-java package (see bug
#445338) doesn't support the ZRLE encoding scheme which is now the
default with current VNC implementations. There is a newer upstream
package that fixes this (TightVNC Java Viewer 1.3.10), implementing ZRLE
as well as a number of other enhancements and fixes.

Lack of ZRLE encoding can degrade the performance over WAN connections,
and so should not be considered simply a wishlist item. This package
really needs to be updated in order to fully-support current VNC
implementations.
