Hmm.  I know there were some issues with non-PIC code in old mpich
libraries, where static mpich objects were pulled into shared PETSc
libraries.  That wasn't fixed until PETSc 2.2.0, so the problem might be
gone...

Nope, grep in the latest libs shows hazelsct still there.  And it's
there in the 1.2.5.3-6 packages I just built.  But I don't have any
trouble linking or running programs, so that aspect of it might be
fixed.

Hmm, I'm afraid I don't have more time to investigate just now, and need
to upload -6 soon.  I'll leave the bug open and try to fix it for the
next release.
