It doesn't work. The output of your patched kernel is unchanged while
vesafb picks a different memory size:

vesafb: framebuffer at 0xe0000000, mapped to 0xffffc20010100000, using
1536k, total 16384k
vesafb: mode is 1024x768x8, linelength=1024, pages=0
vesafb: scrolling: redraw
vesafb: Pseudocolor: size=0:0:0:0, shift=0:0:0:0

The color data is still wrong though. screen_info is copied from boot
params, which your patched kernel dumps correctly... wtf?
