Hi, I see exactly the same problem. After updating Debian clients from etch to lenny, the users can't overwrite existing files in a cifs mounted share.
With etch's mount.cifs there is no problem. There is no info about this bug or a solution since march. Updating the etch server to lenny is no option in my case just because one packed stopped working in interaction with lenny. In anyone working on this bug? Was is communicated upstream?
