Well, Daniel, thanks for reporting this...but abandoning console-* in favour of console-setup is planned, starting by D-I using console-setup and installing it on new systems. So, such changes in console-data, that would require setting up a transition for users....are very unlikely to happen. There are many keymaps in console-data whose names are not aligned with layout names in console-setup (not to mention variants....a concept that doesn't exist in c-d). So, the change would need to happen for these also. I could reconsider this....if someone provides a patch to deal with the transition in maintainer scripts.
