found 537868 1.73-4 tag 537868 pending -- Just for future reference: the package being uploaded in a few minutes includes the final fix for this issue, but it also patches ./configure to avoid even configuring libevent. This is admittedly a hack, but it's mostly included as a cosmetic change, since leaving ./configure unpatched shouldn't AFAICT affect this issue.
