People who want to deal with both file formats can install xz-utils at the same time as lzip (they won't conflict); it's just the compatibility commands in xz-lzma that are in question. And until lzip 1.8 rc2 is packaged for Debian and this whole problem disappears, users can install the xz-utils, lzma, and lzip packages together if they want to have "xz", "lzma" and "lzip" commands available. > BTW, there's a problem with the lzdiff man page at least: Thanks for the heads up --- this was fixed already in the next version of the packaging. xz-utils in experimental has some problems, since the packaging files assume a more recent upstream version than was used. If you have a chance, could you try the latest version from collab-maint (<http://git.debian.org/?p=collab-maint/xz.git;a=summary>)? Or if .dsc/.diff.gz/.deb files would be more convenient, please let me know and I'll set up a Debian repository.
