Package: lvm2 Version: 2.02.51-1 Severity: wishlist
Starting with version 2.02.51-1, lvm2 depends on udev (through dmsetup). I run a server with a custom kernel, no USB support, in which no one ever plugs anything, and that works very well with static configuration. I don't want or need to run udev on that server, and so far my simple LVM setup has worked very well without it. Please consider allowing to use LVM without udev. What changes happened in the last version that would require dmsetup and udev? -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i586) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26.2-grsec Locale: LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages lvm2 depends on: ii libc6 2.9-25 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libdevmapper1.02.1 2:1.02.36-2 The Linux Kernel Device Mapper use ii libreadline5 5.2-5 GNU readline and history libraries ii lsb-base 3.2-23 Linux Standard Base 3.2 init scrip Versions of packages lvm2 recommends: pn dmsetup <none> (no description available) lvm2 suggests no packages. -- debconf information: lvm2/snapshots: lvm2/kernel: -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
