This is true, but ALSA can include OSS compatibility, so it shouldn't be 
hard for most users to get oKle running. Also, oKle is only the front-end 
for ogle, and ogle does support ALSA. Have a look at the ogle documentation 
(man oglerc), and /usr/share/ogle/oglerc.

This is also true, and as you suggest in your follow-up "artsdsp okle" 
should work, but this would force oKle users to use arts, something many 
people don't like to do - and don't have to do.

The truth is that oKle and ogle are dead upstream, and will soon be 
overtaken by Kaffeine in terms of features, and so while it would be good 
for oKle/ogle to automatically use ALSA (and arts) if possible, in reality 
this isn't likely to be solved anytime soon, unfortunately.

What I will do is add a note explaining the situation and the artsdsp 
work-around in the next oKle upload (which will happen as part of the gcc 
4.0 transition in the next month or so). Until then, I'll leave this bug 
open, but retitled.
