The standard "Title/Album/Artist" or whatever is next to useless for classical music. For example, how would you represent an aria from Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, sung by xxx and conducted by yyy? My solution is to use xiph.org's OGG field recommendations. But since the only player I know of that shows those tags is ogg123, I'm out in the cold. My solution is to have filenames like Mozart - K.492 Le Nozze di Figaro - (09) Non piu andrai (Solti).ogg In other words, I put everything in the filename and then use title for the title "Non pio andrai", ignore "Artist" or "Track" as those are meaningless, etc. But as written, listen thinks that I have 32 tracks called "Le Nozze di Figaro" with no further information except length. Please, would you consider allowing the actual filename to be a full-class citizen for libraries, playlists, searching, sorting, etc? I beg! If so, remember: draw spaces as " " and not "%20" as many other players (eg. vlc) do. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.30-1-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages listen depends on: ii gstreamer0.10-alsa 0.10.24-1 GStreamer plugin for ALSA ii gstreamer0.10-plugins-base 0.10.24-1 GStreamer plugins from the "base" ii gstreamer0.10-plugins-good 0.10.15-2 GStreamer plugins from the "good" ii libc6 2.9-25 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libglib2.0-0 2.20.4-1 The GLib library of C routines ii libgtk2.0-0 2.16.5-1 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii notification-daemon 0.4.0-1 a daemon that displays passive pop ii python-central 0.6.11 register and build utility for Pyt ii python-dbus 0.83.0-1 simple interprocess messaging syst ii python-glade2 2.14.1-3 GTK+ bindings: Glade support ii python-gst0.10 0.10.16-1 generic media-playing framework (P ii python-gtk2 2.14.1-3 Python bindings for the GTK+ widge ii python-gtkmozembed 2.25.3-2 Python bindings for the GtkMozEmbe ii python-mutagen 1.15-2 audio metadata editing library ii python-pyinotify 0.8.6-2 simple Linux inotify Python bindin ii python-xdg 0.15-1.1 A python library to access freedes Versions of packages listen recommends: ii gnome-icon-theme 2.26.0-1 GNOME Desktop icon theme ii gstreamer0.10-esd 0.10.15-2 GStreamer plugin for ESD ii gstreamer0.10-x 0.10.24-1 GStreamer plugins for X11 and Pang ii python-avahi 0.6.25-1 Python utility package for Avahi ii python-daap 0.7.1-3 DAAP client implemented in Python ii python-gpod 0.7.2-1.1 Python bindings for libgpod ii python-musicbrainz2 0.6.0-2 An interface to the MusicBrainz XM ii python-tunepimp 0.5.3-7 Python bindings for MusicBrainz ta Versions of packages listen suggests: ii gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad 0.10.13-1 GStreamer plugins from the "bad" s ii gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly 0.10.12-1+b1 GStreamer plugins from the "ugly" pn icecast2 | icecast-server <none> (no description available) ii libtunepimp5 0.5.3-7+b1 MusicBrainz tagging library ii python-eggtrayicon 2.25.3-2 Python module to display icons in ii python-gnome2 2.26.1-1 Python bindings for the GNOME desk pn python-sexy <none> (no description available) -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
