Ciao Enrico, it was the same for me, I tried to reproduce but I wasn't able to do so, then I checked the rest of the correspondence and I saw that you were using mbox_type=Maildir. There is a known bug in the compressed folder patch, upstream webpage [0] says: "You should not configure mbox_type=maildir, otherwise you cannot create new compressed folders and you can no longer use append-hook." Probably we should patch this problem and return an error or a message when you're trying to append on a compressed folder and you're using the maildir as mbox type; I will have a look at this this week.
