It would be really nice if the GIMP could load and save files in
OpenRaster format via the oratools plugin, since MyPaint and Drawpile
both use this format by default these days. There may be some upstream
support coming for this for the GIMP (can't remember offhand, sorry).
However, right now there's:

which seems to work well enough on my little Ubuntu 9.04 playpen, at
least as a bridge between MyPaint 0.7.1 and GIMP 2.6.6.
