Package: debconf Version: 1.5.27 (probably all previous versions too).
some of the information displayed by debconf while upgrading the system is important and needs to be used as a reference while fixing whatever problem has been mentioned. unfortunately, the information displayed is transient and disappears when the user clicks on cancel or OK. *ALL* dialog boxes displayed by debconf with such information (typically with just an "OK" or an "OK" & "Cancel" button) should have additional buttons allowing the user to email or save the info somewhere. if the user chooses to email the info, it should ask for an email address - and then keep that address as the default to be used the next time that debconf asks for an address. see the screenshot attached to Bug #546048 for a good example of why this feature is necessary: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?msg=5;filename=sysv-rc.dialog-2.png;att=1;bug=546048 craig -- craig sanders <[email protected]> -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
