I can't reproduce this problem so far. Could you provide your navit's last position file (~/.navit/center.txt)? This file is generated when you quit navit. It saves the center's coordinates of the last map view. Please generate this file while your current location is inside the bounding box of your map. Thanks, _Gilles.
