I encountered a weird transient build failure today; dpkg-architecture
randomly failed and so a debhelper command fell over. The build
succeeded at a second attempt, so I guess it must have been a hardware
problem or something. However, it was rather frustrating that debhelper
threw away the error message from dpkg-architecture, which might have
been informative in some way, and simply said "dpkg-architecture
failed".
The following patch would make errors a bit more helpful.
