Dear Thomas, I am not at all an expert here, but I'd prefer a Recommends because, AFAICS, the UI does not start if the dbus-launch binary is not in place.
You see, I had to use apt-file to discover to which package that binary belongs, and install it. If the knowledge of a typical end user makes this an obvious action to take, probably you can also use a Suggests. Hope this helps. Thanks for your consideration. 2009/9/28 Thomas Perl <[email protected]>: > On Sat, Sep 26, 2009 at 10:48:14PM +0200, Nicola Girardi wrote: >> Package: gpodder >> Version: 0.17.0-2 >> Severity: important >> >> The program refused to start until I installed the package dbus-x11, >> the packages containing the file /usr/bin/dbus-launch. > > gPodder 2.0 is available in unstable, and makes the requirement of > dbus-x11 not a hard requirement when only using the command-line mode > and not the UI (some users are running gPodder on a headless machine). > > Would a Suggests on dbus-x11 fix this for you?
