Looking at the upstream bugreport I see that it doesn't reflect the problem.

It's not that file-roller doesn't support multi-volume archives, as in
"Sorry, multi-volume archives not supported at the moment."

The problem is that it will open multi-volume archives normally and
without any indication that something might be amiss. It just behaves
as if the other volumes weren't there at all. This isn't a wishlist
bug but a data loss bug! After all deleting an archive after it's been
extracted isn't uncommon at all.
