BTW I tried `gnome-screensaver --debug > gslog 2>&1` after killing gnome-screensaver, then selected flux and tried suspend (suspend to ram by closing the lid, not hibernate) and resume, but A) I didn't get any output in the log and B) could not reproduce the problem.
Is there some other package I need to install to run gnome-screensaver with debugging output, so I can catch details when this happens again? (It's happened multiple times, it's always flux, and the flux process won't respond to a normal kill but requires kill -9.) Thanks for the help.
