Sorry for the delay. I got it to work:

1) I removed ~/.navit
2) I redownloaded my map as 
/usr/share/navit/maps/osm_bbox_22.6,59.7,26.0,61.7.bin
3) I created /usr/share/navit/maps/osm_bbox_22.6,59.7,26.0,61.7.xml with

<map type="binfile" enabled="yes" 
data="$NAVIT_SHAREDIR/maps/osm_bbox_22.6,59.7,26.0,61.7.bin"/>

4) I created ~/.navit/center.txt with

mg: 0x2a6883 0x808c74

After this setup I can see the map using navit
0.1.1.0+dfsg.1-1. Here's a video as a proof, feel free to close the
bug as invalid ;-)
