The FTP team insisted that linux-modules-{extra,contrib}-2.6 must be
replaced (bug #517130) and the kernel team has agreed to do so. We
recommend that module packagers use DKMS for auto-building in future.Although linux-modules-nonfree-2.6 does not have the same licence compliance issue, it is prone to breaking as vendors fail to update their proprietary drivers for new kernel versions, and the kernel team has no ability or interest in dealing with this. Therefore we recommend that proprietary module packagers also use DKMS. -- Ben Hutchings It is impossible to make anything foolproof because fools are so ingenious.
