  2) test if resulting PDF is sane

Some source code is conditional to CompatibilityLevel >= 1.5 indicating that it might work, but it is unknown if it is work-in-progress producing broken PDF output. Help much appreciated - and does not need hacking directly in the code, just knowledge about PDF: Nowhere in the code is mentioned newer compatibility levels than 1.5 so no support for newer versions are expected.
