Package: passwd Version: 1:4.1.1-6 Severity: important Add a line longer than 8196 (!) byte in /etc/group. Then run: # groupadd zzz # useradd -g zzz zzz useradd: unknown group zzz
The problem is critical because several packages fail to install/update when they create new users/groups in postinst. The problem did not seem to occur in Debian etch. -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-xen-amd64 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages passwd depends on: ii debianutils 2.30 Miscellaneous utilities specific t ii libc6 2.7-18 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libpam-modules 1.0.1-5+lenny1 Pluggable Authentication Modules f ii libpam0g 1.0.1-5+lenny1 Pluggable Authentication Modules l ii libselinux1 2.0.65-5 SELinux shared libraries passwd recommends no packages. passwd suggests no packages. -- debconf information: passwd/root-password-crypted: (password omitted) passwd/user-password-crypted: (password omitted) passwd/root-password: (password omitted) passwd/root-password-again: (password omitted) passwd/user-password-again: (password omitted) passwd/user-password: (password omitted) passwd/password-mismatch: passwd/username: passwd/password-empty: * passwd/make-user: false passwd/md5: false passwd/title: passwd/user-uid: * passwd/shadow: true passwd/username-bad: passwd/user-fullname: -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
