In the meantime, I should probably make foomatic-db-gutenprint conflict with foomatic-db-gimp-print (and make foomatic-db-gimp-print an empty transitional package). This isn't strictly necessary, since they should coexist, but the old drivers are now gone, making installation of both together of dubious value.
